St. Augustine Old Jail
Completed in 1891, the jail housed prisoners for over 60 years. It is one of the few surviving 19th century jails. Adults and children alike are thoroughly entertained by our costumed actors who portray deputies and inmate trustees and process you into jail as if you were a prisoner in 1891. Don't worry, everyone gets a chance to try and escape! Explore the sheriffs quarters where he and his wife lived adjacent to 72 prisoners. Guests can visit the male and female cells, maximum security area, the hangman's gallows and see a large collection of weapons used in actual crimes.
St. Augustine History Museum
A combination of historical displays and private collections bring over 400 years of Florida history to life. The museum features displays of the various countries that ruled over St. Augustine: England, Spain, and France. Guests can visit the Spanish sunken treasure room, a Timucan Indian Village and the Florida Cracker trading post.
The Alligator Farm
3:00pm every Saturday, Maximo, a 36-year-old, 15 foot, 1,250 pound Crocodile from Australia emerges from the water to devour his meal. Quite a spectacular thing to see, one of the many reasons why so many locals buy annual passes to this wonderful zoological park. Another fascinating exhibit features Gomek, a preserved crocodile that was 18 feet long and weighed 2,000 pounds. You can pet an alligator, watch a feeding and see wild species like Albino Alligators, herons, spoonbills and woodstorks. You'll also see toucans, parrots, Australian emus and seven different types of monkeys. The Alligator Farm was opened in 1893 and has been a favorite stop to travelers from all over world ever since.
