The New England Aquarium's Giant Ocean Tank offers a rare oceanic experience with 360-degree views inside a four-story Caribbean coral reef teeming with close to 1,000 creatures. This installation underwent a full-scale 21st-century transformation in 2013 that added windows with crystal-clear viewing opportunities. The Trust Family Foundation Shark and Ray Touch Tank is home to sharks and rays in a mangrove-themed tank with shallow edges and viewing windows that create the perfect environment for having close encounters with these sea wonders! Visitors are invited to reach out to gently stroke the backs of the exhibit's cownose rays, Atlantic rays, and sharks. Opening at 9:30 a.m. each day, this exhibit demonstrates the importance of conserving healthy ocean ecosystems and coastal habitats for the sake of the rays and sharks that call the world's mangroves and lagoons home.
