Overview:

Rokeby Museum is a National Landmark, and 90-acre historic site, located in Ferrisburgh, Vermont. By mid-nineteenth century it was one of the most prosperous farms in the Champlain Valley, and the traces of its past are clearly marked on the landscape; the pastures where sheep, and later dairy cattle grazed, and the orchards and hayfields that are crossed today by walking trails.

With roots in seventeenth-century Rhode Island, Thomas and Jemima Robinson staked their claim in Vermont, just after it became a state in 1791, and remained central members of their community until the site became a museum in 1961.

Over the years, they welcomed a large and diverse extended family of relatives, friends, fugitive slaves, and domestic and farm workers into their home. It was here, that Rowland Thomas Robinson, provided fugitive slaves with the employment and education needed to start new lives.

The house and farm nurtured and survived the growing up and growing old of four generations of Robinsons; a remarkable family of farmers, abolitionists, authors, and artists. The site includes a fully furnished house and eight outbuildings, all of which are open to view.

Buy your eTicket today for Rokeby Museum and prepare to experience 200 years of New England history, like never before.
Imagine how the Robinson's lived, worked and survived through four generations, as you walk along the hiking trails, stroll past the old creamery and listen to stories of centuries past.
