On a Local Tastes of the City Tour, you
will eat your way through San Francisco. Each one of the three-hour
small-group adventures explores the soul of a neighborhood. San
Francisco is one of the culinary capitals of the world and every
block has its own unique feeling and food. On every tour with Local
Tastes of the City, you'll go into local bakeries, restaurants, and
cafes, and taste the essence of the neighborhood. You will go into
and spend time with local artisans as they practice their crafts.
Guests go into the places that are the reasons most San Franciscans
cannot ever think of leaving here, the places that evoke the
creativity and lifestyle that is unique to San Francisco.
Fisherman's Wharf:
Locals know where to find San Francisco's Maritime's Heart, and so
will you during this adventure into the City's waterfront. From
incredible art deco murals that echo the City's maritime past, to
fish processing plants of San Francisco today, you'll explore up
close and personal Fisherman's Wharf from an insider's view. You'll
not only see Sea Lions and Elephant Seals, but also have a
naturalist describe their habitats and lives.
Art and machine become one as you meander through arcade games from
the turn of the 20th century. And, of course, you couldn't think of
going through the waterfront without sampling some of the freshest
seafood and San Francisco's world famous sourdough bread. You'll
even satisfy your chocolate sweet tooth at Ghiradelli Square. From
the sea to the confectionary shops, you'll explore every corner of
the Wharf, in the process, winning your heart over to everyone's
favorite City by the Bay.
After approximately three hours of tasting chocolate, sampling
delicacies, visiting cafe's and specialty food shops, you'll have
the option of a full meal of incredible seafood at one of the
favorite restaurants on the Wharf.
If you decide to enjoy the optional meal after the tour, you'll have
a meal at a top-rated San Francisco restaurant and indulge in the
chef's favorite dishes. You'll have an amazing meal for an amount
that only friends of the chef would usually have, for far less than
you'd be able to get on your own. The optional complete meal after
the tour (with wine, desert, and several courses) is an additional
$20-25, depending on the restaurant. You are welcome to enjoy the
meal privately or as part of the group.
After the meal, you'll join local fisherman on a bay cruise and
learn about harvesting local seafood in San Francisco. And, chances
are good, you'll watch them pull crab pots right from the Bay. Or if
you prefer, you can enjoy a bay cruise with Red and White Fleet
