Amazing IMAX films will take you where you've only dreamed of going! Incredible journeys to the bottom of the sea, outer space and almost anywhere in between.
The giant screen - 65 ft high by 85 ft wide - is taller than a six story building! The slight curvature of the screen extends to the edge of your peripheral vision. Visit animals and habitats that are too large, too small, or too endangered to exhibit in the aquarium, through IMAX and IMAX 3D.
Experience IMAX and IMAX 3D through these films:
Dolphins and Whales 3D: Tribes of the Ocean is a new immersive, and highly emotional adventure with Jean-Michel Cousteau, which will take you from the dazzling coral reefs of the Bahamas to the warm depths of the waters of the exotic Kingdom of Tonga. While you're there catch Whales and Sharks 3D too!
Van Gogh: Brush with Genius leads viewers on a journey through the surprisingly short 9-year period of the artist's career during which he painted more than 900 paintings. Told from the perspectives of three main characters -- Ellen, a museum researcher, Peter, a film director, and Vincent van Gogh himself -- Van Gogh follows in the artist's footsteps, traveling from the Netherlands to Auvers-sur-Oise and passing through Arles, Saint-Rmy and Paris. From the dazzling yellow of the artist's famous cornfields to the deep blue of his famous night sky, audiences will rediscover the source of some of the most important works in art history.
U23D: An incredible film that puts viewers onstage with Bono to rock out to all the classic songs, including "Beautiful Day", "Vertigo" and "With or Without You". With 12,000 watts of digital surround sound streaming from 44 speakers, it's better than front row, or even backstage. Produced by National Geographic and filmed from a series of live concerts throughout South America, the film's amazingly realistic 3D technology puts you where you want to be. Up close and personal with Bono and U2!
Under the Sea 3D: narrated by Jim Carrey and directed by Howard Hall
The new IMAX 3D adventure will transport moviegoers to some of the most exotic and isolated undersea locations on earth, including Southern Australia, New Guinea and others in the Indo-Pacific region, allowing them to experience face-to-face encounters with some of the most mysterious and stunning creatures of the sea. It offers a uniquely inspirational and entertaining way to explore the beauty and natural wonder of the oceans, as well as the impact of global climate change. In IMAX 3D, the images will literally leap off the screen and float around the theatre, putting the audience in the movie.
Wild Ocean 3D: An explosive, symphonic giant screen film about man and nature that captures one of the world's greatest spectacles. Each year a massive feeding bonanza takes place in the oceans of South Africa as billions of fish migrate up the KwaZulu-Natal Wild Coast. Breaching whales, frenzied sharks, herding dolphins and diving gannets compete in an epic underwater struggle for survival.
But how do human beings and their fishing habits fit in with this complex food web? The film includes the story of efforts to promote sustainable fishing practices in an attempt to preserve one of the most incredible natural spectacles on the planet. In South Africa, business, government and the local people have joined forces in an attempt to protect this great and invaluable migration. This is where Africa meets the sea.
