Flagler's Legacy Tour
Legacy Tours of Flagler College highlight the architectural heritage of the former Hotel Ponce de Leon, listed as a National Historic Landmark. Built by millionaire developer Henry M. Flagler in 1887, the Ponce is considered one of the finest examples of Spanish Renaissance architecture and was one of the most exclusive resorts of its day. Visitors will begin in the Rotunda where they will stare up into an 80-foot domed ceiling. Other exquisite sights include the Dining Hall, where 79 of Louis Tiffany's stained glass windows are displayed. Then onto the Flagler Room, originally the hotel's Grand Parlor, where visitors gaze upon Tiffany Austrian crystal chandeliers, and a massive onyx Thomas Edison clock.
Villa Zorayda Museum
Experience an architectural masterpiece built by Franklin Smith in 1883. The Villa Zorayda is 1/10 the scale of a small portion of the Alhambra Palace in Granada, Spain. Learn why Smith and his poured coquina concrete method of construction quite literally changed the way St. Augustine would look forever and left a lasting legacy to the City of St. Augustine.
Lightner Museum
Relics of America's Gilded Age are elegantly exhibited on the museum's three floors. Costumes, furnishings, mechanical musical instruments and other artifacts give you a glimpse into 19th century daily life. The Lightner collection includes beautiful examples of cut glass, Victorian art glass and the stained glass work of Louis Comfort Tiffany.
St. Augustine Old Jail
Completed in 1891, the jail housed prisoners for over 60 years. It is one of the few surviving 19th century jails. Adults and children alike are thoroughly entertained by our costumed actors who portray deputies and inmate trustees and process you into jail as if you were a prisoner in 1891. Don't worry, everyone gets a chance to try and escape! Explore the sheriffs quarters where he and his wife lived adjacent to 72 prisoners. Guests can visit the male and female cells, maximum security area, the hangman's gallows and see a large collection of weapons used in actual crimes.
Oldest Store Museum Experience
Visit the Oldest Store in St. Augustine with its impressive 100,000 items. Meet the proprietor: Mr. C.F. Hamblen and watch in amazement as the friendly clerk, butcher and snake oil salesman demonstrate the very latest inventions for turn of the century living. The local tableted actors/storytellers make this tour even more entertaining by providing history and humor all rolled into one.
